Legends in the 80s

July 4th, 2006

There were some great songs in the 80s by artists who are typically associated with previous decades.
Exhibit 1:

Roy Orbison: [Anything You Want] You Got It
This video is actually pleasant to watch and the song is great. Roy had an amazing voice that didn’t seem to age.

Exhibit 2:
George Harrison: I Got My Mind Set On You
I have a vivid recollection of this song and the video despite that fact that I was 7 when it was released. The video is kinda funny but it breaks down when they have the George Harrison dance/backflip sequence. That was painful to watch.

Exhibit 3:
Traveling Wilburys: Handle With Care

My favorite superband; it’s fun to watch all of these legends stand around and lipsync together.

Exhibit 4:
Traveling Wilburys: End of the Line

Pretty much the same formula used in the other video except they’re in a train, not a warehouse.

I’m not sure I could even think of artists to put together for a modern supergroup. I think those days may be gone.
